Toe Straightener- single toe (Budin Toe Splint)

Do not overtighten the elastic toe strap, as this may restrict circulation. If you have diabetes, neuropathy, numbness, tingling, or poor circulation, consult your physician before use. If numbness, discoloration, irritation, or increased pain occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult a foot specialist. Do not wear to bed. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

Directions: Apply to a clean, dry foot. Gently pull the open loop from the non-fixed end to fit over the affected toe. Ensure the flat part of the pad is under the toes and ball of the foot. The elastic band should rest near the base of the toe, avoiding direct pressure on the toe knuckle or bump. Once positioned, pull the tail end of the loop gently to secure the pad—do not overtighten.

Remove at bedtime and for at least 4 hours during the day to allow the skin to breathe.

• Q:Will a Budin splint fix a rigid hammer toe?
• A: No.The splint will support and may help to realign flexible overlapping hammer toes. If the joint is fixed or rigid, a splint won’t straighten it. In fact do not use this splint if your deformity is rigid as it may cause pain.
• Q: What condition can a Budin splint help?
• A: A single flexible hammer toe that is not purchasing the ground or starting to overlap the adjacent toe.It may prevent worsening of an early overlapping hammer toe, splint the toe after a toe injury or help healing after a plantar plate injury.
• Q: How long can I wear pads each day?
• A: Usually they can be worn most of the day without a problem. But some people may need an adjustment period. So to start wear for 1–2 hours and increase as tolerated. Remove daily to inspect skin. If you feel numbness, tingling, or new pain or increased pain, stop and refit. If issue continues , stop using and contact your doctor/ healthcare provider.

Hand wash with mild soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Press flat with a clean towel to remove excess water and air dry completely before reuse.
